This took forever to figure out. I wanted to make a Blog main page and have a list of the posts. Has to be a better way but for now I have blank _index.md file and a folder of the current year that I will put other blog md files. This will have to do for now, and I have done the same in Projects.

I would like to learn shortcodes but have failed so far.
